Jesus: Everything, Us: Nothing
Romans 3:27-31
Yesterday, we saw from Romans 3:27-31 that the gospel leaves absolutely no room for boasting. When it comes to salvation, we don’t bring a single point to the scoreboard. Christ carries it all! Even the faith by which we trust Him is a gift of grace. That truth not only humbles us before God; it frees us to love others with the same mercy we’ve received.
This week, when you feel the pull to prove yourself—to defend your decisions, to compare yourself to others, or to carry the weight of your own righteousness—remember what we saw in our text: you’re clothed in the perfect righteousness of Christ. You don’t have to earn God’s approval or anyone else’s.
Let that freedom shape your relationships.
Instead of seeking identity from your spouse, children, coworkers, or friends, draw deeply from the love that is already yours in Christ. When you know you are fully justified and fully accepted, you can approach people with gentleness instead of pressure, compassion instead of competition.
And as you walk through your week, remember Paul’s final word: faith doesn’t overthrow the Law; it fulfills its purposes. The Spirit is at work in you, producing the very righteousness the Law pointed to, but could never produce on its own.
Rest in Christ. Walk by the Spirit by allowing the word of Christ to dwell in you richly (Colossians 3:16). Grace will flow through you today as the Spirit produces fruit in your life.
